Last day of school, the best feeling in the world! The only bad thing is that we have finals next week! Which reminds me to print out my paper tomorrow at work and e-mail it to Prof. Wood because she lost it! And I didn't realize I didn't have it on my lap top, it was at work! I will do that tomorrow! I enjoyed this semester a lot, I got to meet new people and hang out with friends! As semesters start and end it gets me closer to graduating. I am waiting for that moment like no other. I want that diploma in my hand and I want to be able to not have to say up late to finish writing papers! No Finals, no midterms, no homework, no essays! That would be the best thing in the world, like you don't understand I have been waiting for this for a long time! I have been going to school since pre-school and it just seems like such a long way to quit now! But I know soon it will be here! As for now I have six weeks break, that sounds awesome!!!!!! YYYaayyy no more blogs, that is great!!!! Bye Bye!
Today i woke up thinking of a friend I miss. He and I where so close , but there is a problem he liked me but I didn't like him, I only liked him as a friend . Never did I know he had such strong feelings for me. I didn't know how to tell him but knew I had to tell him that I was not interested. Very few times in life you find someone that would give up his world for you, but I knew I did not feel the same way about him. So I finally let him know that I was no interested and I didn't know it would change our friendship. We still talk till this day but a couple months ago I noticed he had changed well to my point of view. See I thought he changed because I never knew he could act a certain way. SoI approached him about it I told him he had changed then said no this was who he was. We talked then it led up to an argument I was furious at him for being this new person a person I had never seen before. I would call him we talked for a bit but we would start arguing quickly. Ididd not know why my friend was acting this way. I had such anger soI started to ignore him but i didnt know how much I would miss him. See he is the guy that is always there to listen to my problems and helped me out he was a shoulder to cry-on.
Today I was on myspace today. Like every other person. I felt like going into the music section and try to find some music. As i clicked on to the music area i saw that Snoop, Pitbul My Chemical Romance but very few indie bands.so i decided to look up bands at random. I would type in names that would come to my head at random. When i remembered that my friend in los angeles has a band but i never really listened to it. So i choose today to go listen to them and to my surprise they where really good. Their name is swing Hailey, and to anybody that likes music I honestly recommend them even though the audio quality is not great you could still hear it clearly. so go ahead and check them out and add them to your friends list. they are great and I honestly never thought that he could do such a great job. Their lyrics have meaning and great beat to it. He had been talking so much about it, and said they were going to record but I never believed him. I thought he was kidding and dreaming. I go way back with this friend, he has been there through thick and thin! I am glad he is my friend...

Here is the link to their my space, so if you decide to listen to them and add them!!!

So called friends, Do you have a best friend? I thought I did, until the day you realized that you haven't seen her or talked to her. My best friend and I had been friends ever since pre-school and I thought we were going to be friends for a long time. We went to separate elementary schools, and middle school but in high school we reunited. We swore we would keep in contact and we did through out high school, but once we started college everything went down the hole. It went down so much that she didn't even call me this year for my birthday, what is up with that!!!! I guess she is too busy with her boyfriend and becoming a doctor that she completely forgot about her so called sister. I guess these things tend to happen but I didn't think this was going to happen to me. Thankfully I still have my friend Tere, which is always there for me and listens to me all the time! It is funny though Tere and I have known each other less and we have more in common than with my "best Friend." But I will still continue to cherish her because she has been my child hood friend forever, I just wish she could remember me a little bit more! Hopefully she will call soon!
Mexican Authorities Arrest Leader of Oaxaca Protests

MEXICO CITY — Mexican police arrested the symbolic leader of a six-month-long protest movement that took over southern Oaxaca city, hours after he gave a news conference saying he had come to the capital to start talks with the government.
Flavio Sosa, whose heavyset, bearded presence became an emblem of the leftist People's Assembly of Oaxaca, was arrested late Monday in Mexico City on charges of kidnapping, robbery, causing damages and injuries, allegations apparently related to the barricades, vandalism and irregular detentions carried out by some protesters, federal police said in a statement distributed to news outlets.
Sosa was taken to a maximum security prison just west of Mexico City for arraignment. While he was a member of a larger leadership council, he appeared to be largely in control of the protest movement.
He has downplayed his role in the past, saying last month, "We are all equal. But my big beard and big stomach have made me become the favorite leader of the press and the police."
On Monday before his arrest, Sosa told reporters he had come to Mexico City in an attempt to re-establish negotiations with the government and escape what he described as persecution in Oaxaca. A spokesman for the people's assembly, Florentino Lopez, told the government news agency Notimex that talks would continue with the government despite Sosa's arrest, but it was unclear who would represent the protesters.

Just a few hours before he was detained, Sosa held a news conference in which he said he left Oaxaca to avoid the "fierce persecution of the police and Ulises Ruiz' hit men," referring to Oaxaca Gov. Ulises Ruiz, whose resignation the protesters had demanded.
Local media reported that two other leaders of the movement, known as APPO, had also been arrested, but there was no immediate confirmation of that.
Leaders who accompanied Sosa at the news conference said that a total of 220 protesters have been detained during the conflict in Oaxaca, though police cite a figure of around 170. Protesters also claimed some of those detained had been beaten, and that another 70 supporters of the movement are missing.
Sosa's brother, Horacio, was with him and was arrested at the same time in Mexico City, on unspecified charges.
While Oaxaca City — once a magnet for tourists — is slowly regaining some semblance of normality after burned-out vehicles and improvised barricades were removed from the streets, anger continues to smolder there.
Sosa said on Monday that the situation in Oaxaca could evolve into an armed conflict, something he said he hoped can be avoided. "They (authorities) could leave the people with no options. Since they are spreading hate, this could unleash itself at any moment."
The protesters, ousted from the city's center by a police raid in late October, have vowed to keep pressing their demand for Ruiz's resignation and are calling for a "mega-march" on Saturday.
The conflict began in late May as a strike by teachers seeking higher pay, but quickly exploded into a broader movement including Indian groups, students, farmers and myriad left-leaning activists, all organized under APPO.
The conflict kept residents away from the city's historic center and forced nearly all the shops and restaurants to close their doors.
Located about 520 kilometers (325 miles) southeast of Mexico City, Oaxaca is one of the country's premier tourist destinations with its colonial architecture and Indian crafts. But tourism plummeted amid the violence, which prompted the U.S. and several other foreign governments to warn their citizens against traveling to the city.
Among those killed in the protests was freelance video journalist Bradley Roland Will, 36, of New York, who was filming a clash between protesters and a group of armed men.
The violence seemed to come to a head last week when protesters set colonial-era buildings on fire, prompting police to begin arresting demonstrators. Many detainees have been transferred to a federal prison hundreds of miles (kilometers) away in Nayarit state, and many APPO leaders went into hiding after authorities issued warrants for their arrest.

I am glad this happened, there has been to much chaos in Mexico because of his conflict. It has been about year since children in Oaxaca haven’t had a full day of class. The people have up risen and have gone against the Oaxaca municipal government, and the decisions it starts to take towards education issues. This has caused many problems that have made the teachers speak outThis conflict has gotten so out of hand that there have been people killed. For example there was a teacher that was killed due to the fact that he opposed the protestors in other words he didn’t support the fact that teachers were protesting against the government. The only reason violence has escalated so much is because there hasn’t been someone to stop it. It almost seems to be that the state has no police to stop the conflict. The federal government is the only that can stop it at any time they decide to stop it. Another important thing to point out is that, if the federal government doesn’t do anything to stop this conflict then other states will begin to rise. For example the state of Michoacan has already said that if the government doesn’t give the teachers what they want then they will rise against the government as well. To this day the governor is still in office and shows not sign of resigning. There have been about five attempts to begin classes again, but it seems to fail every time. On November 30, 2006 everything seemed to be ok in the morning, but due to the recent warrants there has been against some teachers chaos started once again. THis conflict needs to stop ASAP!!!!!! For Mexico's good!!!

I don't want to know shit... I have my own issues to deal with... you don't care anyway... and like I said before...
My Space, My space has become a website where many people have decided to reunite with people they haven't seen in a long time. This seemed to happen to me, at first I was completely against My Space. My niece insisted that I should get one, but I would think it was such a waste of time. One day I noticed that everyone would talk about my space and I decided to check it out and search people. When I was intrigued to look at the pictures I couldn't you had to sign in. So I decided to create a My Space, and to my surprise I was on there for about 3 hours straight. From one page to another, from friends to friends. It seemed to be that every page I would see I could add about 4 friends. It was great, I got to see friends profiles I had not seen since high school. these profiles allowed me to see what was going on in their life, and catch up in their life. I could leave comments, send messages to them, and comment their pictures. I found it very interesting how a person can say they don't like My Space and then involve themselves so much. Since then I check my space about 4 times a day (which I know is bad) but you find out a lot things which makes it even better! I love it!
“When you grow up, you have to get married in white…” my mother said. “You have to be pure, that is the best gift to your husband, if they say if you love you will do it…” Phrases like this I hear almost about every week, we have to be pure and white when we get married. It is a constant reminder that we have to be virgins until we get married. I was born in Guadalajara, Mexico and my parents are both Mexican and have grown with very strong Catholic beliefs. Coming from a catholic family is a very difficult thing because it is not only the belief in God and the Virgen De Guadalupe but more like a constant reminder of what we should be. A women especially because if they say they are pregnant before being married, they will seriously be emotionally scolded. The reason I am writing this is because in my MAS 160 class we were talking about how it is important in the Latino community the purity of a women and the gender roles each person in your house holds. For example the dad in this scenario is the hard one, that will not allow their daughter to commit such "sin." according to Mexican family that is a sin, having sexual intercourse before marriage is considered a sin and is unexceptable. The mother is a constant reminder to the beliefs of the Catholic Church, of what is wrong or right, but my thought to this is that we are in different times and it is not the same as it used to be!
Soccer, the best sport ever invented. This past summer we had the luck to live an entire World Cup with many surprises. A lot of the teams that were favorites didn't even get to the final or semi-finals. For example Mexico was one of the teams that had a lot of fans, but they didn't make the cut. They were kicked out by another Latin American country, Argentina. So then everything geard towards Brasil and they didn't get anywhere either, Brasil was on of the best teams that many people were expecting to win. Brasil has the best players in the world, some that play for Barcelona the champions of the champions. Ronaldhino, couldn't score anything at all, and had just been named the most valuable player. Here is when we see that luck does have something to do with soccer, because sometimes luck plays a huge factor in soccer.

I love soccer and I think that is the best sport invented.

Reality Shows

Have you ever asked yourself if reality shows are really real? Whether they are pre-scripted or whether they are really happening. I have come to the conclusion that no reality show is real, it all either seems to go to be true or not real at all. We have had show such as "American Idol" where the concept was to have aspirational singers sing, and the public would vote on it. And the show also had critiques such as SIMON, who would tell them whether their performance was good or not. But to me it seems like most of the times it was scripted what they were going to say to cause a whole show seen. Most of time the reality shows are only there for rating purposes, and are made up. Most of these shows are only to make people want to be other people, it only creates a false sense of life. It creates a false sense of identity, of what a beautiful life is. We also have these shows that supposedly show how these rick girls want these huge sweet sixteens. This makes the standard higher than what parents in real life can afford, because I am pretty sure that the TV stations provide these people with money to continue to have these huge parties. Reality Shows are not real, and I don't like it when they show them on TV.

I am going to write about the article I am going to critique for the paper due on Monday. In San Mateo they have a daily journal newspaper that is publicity ever day. And not all the time people agree with articles that are publicity and most of the time, the articles don't make sense at all. Articles sometimes are to biased, and are very contradictory in its self. For example the article I critiqued on was "Four year sentence for Nanny," this article was very interesting but at times I didn't understand what the author was trying to explain or tell us from it. For example at the beginning of the article it talks about both of the parents mothers had the same birthday, but it can be misunderstood that the parents had the same birthday. So far the article seems interesting for the reason that we need to know what nanys say or do to children that are not theirs. This would totally make me think about leaving my children with some lady, how would I know if they wouldn't do anything to my children. That scares me, I wouldn't want my new born baby to die after a couple of days of having it. I would seriously do what ever it took to make sure this person would pay for what it did. As for now I am going to go write my paper!!

I haven't been on the computer for a long time, due to illnesses! I think I forgot how to use a computer, and I had also forgotten that I had to write blogs. So here I am, I am going to talk about getting colds and how bad they can get. First of all they are not fun at all, I started with a regular sore throat and soon it became a head ache. I never thought that a throat infection can cause you to feel so miserable. It all started on a Friday where I apparently thought I had a cold and it would go away with a stabbed, but I was wrong. It wasn't a cold in the first place on Sunday I was so bad that I ended up going to the doctor. I couldn't even talk and swallowing my own saliva was not very fun. It was a painful Sunday, I couldn't drink water, eat or even smell. The Doctor right away game me a Strep throat examine which came out to be negative. I dont even know what the throat infection name is, but I ended getting medicine. The doctor gave me four pills of Penicillin a day for 10 days. How fun can that be!!! WEll this is my story of me getting sick, not fun at all!

Manuel Lopez Obrador

Mexican leftist candidate wins in volatile regionOfficial results give governor’s race to hopeful in Chiapas stateThe Associated PressUpdated: 11:44 a.m. PT Aug 27, 2006TUXTLA GUTIERREZ, Mexico - The candidate of Mexico's top leftist force won the governor's race in the volatile southern state of Chiapas, edging a hopeful backed by President Vicente Fox's party by about 6,300 votes, electoral officials said Sunday.Following a tense, two-hour session, Chiapas' electoral council announced the official results from the Aug. 20 election, giving Juan Sabinas, of the Democratic Revolution Party, 553,270 votes, compared to 546,988 for Jose Antonio Aguilar, who was running with the Institutional Revolutionary Party, which controlled Mexico's presidency from 1929 until 2000.Institutional Revolutionary officials immediately said they would challenge the results in court.Aguilar, a 56-year-old former federal senator, was also supported by Fox's conservative National Action Party as the result of a last-minute alliance to try to defeat Sabines, a 38-year-old former Tuxtla Gutierrez mayor. He has claimed the election was tainted by government meddling, vote buying and other irregularities. If the Chiapas results are challenged legally, they could mirror Mexico's disputed presidential election from July 2 -- but with the roles of the leftist and conservative parties reversed.Initial presidential-election results gave National Action Party candidate Felipe Calderon a slight advantage of about 240,000 votes, or about 0.6 percent of all ballots cast, over leftist, former Mexico City Mayor Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador.Lopez Obrador claims improper campaigning, illicit funding from the Fox administration and widespread electoral fraud swayed the election results in Calderon's favor. Meanwhile, National Action has filed its own challenges seeking to increase its candidate's tiny advantage.Mexico's Federal Electoral Tribunal is weighing the challenges and has until Sept. 6 to declare a president-elect or annul the vote.Thousands of Lopez Obrador supporters have set up a sprawling protest camps in downtown Mexico City, demanding a vote-by-vote recount they say will show their candidate was the presidential race's rightful winner.Addressing a large crowd in the capital's historic central plaza Sunday, Lopez Obrador cheered the final results of the Chiapas election and again claimed he was the rightful winner of the presidential race.© 2006 The Associated Press. The article above just enfuriates me, for the reason that as a Mexican, Lopez Obrador is getting to out of hand. Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador also known as AMLO, is the candidate of the political party of El PRD. The PRD is known as the leftys that, at this very moment are causing chaos in the Mexico state. On July 2, 2006 the national elections took place where the IFE (Instituto Federal Electoral) announced that Calderon candiate of El Pan had won the election. AMLO immediatly appealed that decision asking for the IFE to recount the ballots. THe thing that makes so mad is that he had agreed to accept any decision the Mexican people would make and not go against any of the decisions taken by the people. He has been blocking many of the main streets in Mexico causing a lot of companies to loose money as well as the people with buisinesses and causing them to loose even more money. He claims to be right and claims to fight until they give him the presidency, but there are many thoughts that come to my head when we talk about this subject.

1. AMLO is not the right person to be the Mexican President for many reasons. He has no word, talks out of his rearend, and many more things I will explain down below.

2. He claims to say he wants democracy and for the first time there are fair elections with the least problems, and he doesn't accept them. So where is democracy in his state of mind?

3. He doesn't fulfill his agreements, he signs a contract and doesnt comply by it. Where is his word?

4. He causes many hardships on the Mexican peoople, having protests on the main Mexico city streets. Where is his sense of peace and diplomacy?

5. He was basically kicked out of the MExico City government for illicit activiy? what makes us think he wouldn't do that to the country? Mexico is messed already!

6. He will bring the Mexican economy even more down the hole, than what they have right now.

There are many things that make me mad about his behavior. After reading the article above to me it doesnt make a difference because Chiapas is more of a lefty state. So it doesn't really matter what they believe because he lies to the people saying he will give them money and etc. But isnt that what all presidents say. Like my father said if you have to choose from all three candidates lets pick the least corrupt of the candidates. This is the only thing that comes to mind right now but I will write more as the days go by!

TContreras!
